I graduated from The University of Illinois in psychology and went on to receive my Master’s degree from Columbia College. I see individuals, couples, families and children. I believe that therapy is a process in which the therapist and client must first build a trusting and therapeutic alliance. I follow an eclectic approach and therapy is different with each individual. I believe that people can make life changes by looking at their lives and setting goals. I do not run the sessions, but believe that each client has the capacity for positive decision making and choices toward a more fulfilling life. I am there to help guide the road to personal growth and healing or recovery. It takes a great deal of courage to begin looking at one’s life or one’s issues, but I am a strong believer in the therapy process. I have many years of experience in the field and I know many people suffer a long time before receiving help. When I do family therapy or when I work with adolescents, I believe in educating and involving the whole system.
I have very flexible hours and am easily accessible. I make presentations in the community as well as advocacy in the schools. When I think of an individual making the decision to enter into the therapy process, I refer to one of my favorite books, "The Road Less Traveled". I think of this as the foundation of my philosophy because some individuals will go through life and never make the choice to take a more challenging path. By taking a personal risk and making positive changes, you can create a whole new life. I work with my clients to help them create a life with more joy and less pain. I love what I do and believe that the process of therapy is a wonderful growth experience.
